Tyler McLean Death, Obituary – The Burlington County community is grappling with a tragic and deeply unsettling incident after two men were found dead in what authorities have described as a murder-suicide in Lumberton, New Jersey. The event, which unfolded on June 10, 2026, has left family members, friends, neighbors, and community members searching for answers while mourning the loss of two lives.

According to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, the incident involved 56-year-old Tyler McLean of Lumberton and 53-year-old Damon Nesmith. Investigators say McLean fatally shot Nesmith at a residence on Curry Court before later taking his own life a short distance away.

Law enforcement officials reported that Lumberton Township Police were dispatched to Nesmith’s residence at approximately 4:15 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Nesmith deceased inside the home. Authorities later determined that he had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.

The investigation indicates that McLean allegedly fired multiple shots at Nesmith using a .40-caliber handgun. Following the shooting, officials say McLean left the area in a Volvo SUV and traveled approximately half a mile from the residence. There, he was later found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The tragic sequence of events has shocked residents of Lumberton, a community where violent incidents of this nature are relatively uncommon. As news spread throughout the township and surrounding Burlington County communities, many expressed sadness for the families affected and concern over the circumstances that led to the deadly encounter.

Investigators have also revealed that the fatal shootings were preceded by another incident involving McLean shortly before 4 p.m. on the same day. According to authorities, responding officers received information indicating that McLean had allegedly displayed a handgun and fired multiple shots at another individual. Officials stated that none of those shots struck the intended victim.

Law enforcement agencies are continuing to examine the relationship between the incidents and determine the full sequence of events that occurred prior to the fatal confrontation on Curry Court.

The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, Lumberton Township Police Department, and New Jersey State Police are jointly conducting the investigation. Detectives continue to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and review available information as they work to establish a complete understanding of what led to the tragedy.

At this stage, authorities have not publicly disclosed additional details regarding the nature of the relationship between McLean and Nesmith beyond describing Nesmith as an acquaintance. Investigators have also not released information concerning a possible motive.

For those who knew Damon Nesmith, the news of his death has been particularly heartbreaking. Loved ones are remembering a man whose life was cut short in a sudden act of violence. Friends and family now face the difficult task of grieving an unexpected loss while seeking answers about the circumstances surrounding his death.

Likewise, the death of Tyler McLean has left family members and others who knew him confronting complex emotions and profound sorrow. Tragedies involving violence and suicide often affect entire communities, extending far beyond those directly involved.

Mental health professionals note that incidents of this nature can have a lasting emotional impact on families, friends, witnesses, first responders, and community members. Feelings of grief, confusion, anger, and disbelief are common in the aftermath of sudden and traumatic events.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information relevant to the case to cooperate with law enforcement. Additional details may be released as investigators complete their review of the evidence and establish a clearer picture of the events that unfolded on June 10.

For now, the Burlington County community remains focused on supporting the families affected by the tragedy while awaiting further answers from investigators.
